6 Trucks/SUV Waving Goodbye in 2012

2012 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab
Though it has a budget price and an available V8 engine, this midsize pickup suffered from an aging transmission and platform, a 1990s interior and an unusually wide turning circle. A replacement is expected in coming years, but details are scant.

2012 GMC Canyon Crew Cab
This Chevrolet Colorado sibling has many of the same features and, like its aging counterpart, faces the same demise.

2012 Hyundai Veracruz
While other midsize, 3-row SUVs have found willing buyers, Hyundai's people mover got lost in the crowd and never garnered the kind of sales success as its smaller utility vehicles. The Veracruz will effectively be replaced by a new 3-row Santa Fe in 2013.

2012 Mercedes-Benz R-Class
This luxurious amalgamation of a minivan, SUV and wagon never caught on with American buyers, leading Mercedes-Benz to drop it from the U.S. lineup. Ironically, production of the R-Class will continue in Alabama for export to other countries, where it receives more respect.

2012 Mazda CX-7
With the small, fun and fuel-efficient new CX-5 on one end and the larger, three-row CX-9 on the other, the CX-7 is the no-longer-needed middle child among Mazda's SUV offerings.

2012 Kia Sedona
Like the Hyundai Entourage before it, the value-priced Sedona minivan has become a tough sell in this competitive segment. While there won't be a Sedona for the 2013 model year, Kia says it has a new one in the works - likely to bow for the 2014 model year.
